It involves setting similar items in an area such as you would find on a dining room table. Symmetrical design themes make it easy for the brain to process the décor idea when someone walks into a room.

This room like the last uses a central point from which to balance the asymmetrical design. I enjoy asymmetrical balance since it is performed with the attention hence also being known as optical balance. This asymmetrical fireplace above uses balance by the use of decorative objects either side of it to create harmony and stability in this living space. Unlike the previous however this room arranges the furniture on the grid.
